When your grounding project requires a lot of copper,
TP Pro can save you 20% or more!!
The copper cladding thickness can range from six to fifteen percent of the wire radius, depending on specifications. This range of thicknesses yields composite conductivities ranging from 21 to 40 percent International Annealed Copper Standard (IACS).The steel core can range from 1006 to 1070 AISI designation to satisfy the mechanical properties demanded by a wide range of applications.
Bimetallic Products® products offer significant cost-savings over solid copper wire. When specifying new equipment or replacing existing solid copper, specifiers should consider that CCS combines the strength of steel with the conductivity of copper. In general, it costs less, weighs less, and handles and installs just as easily as copper.
Bimetallic Products® wire is available with two different types of steel core: a strong, high-carbon steel for high-strength and extra high-strength applications; and a low-carbon, heat-treated steel for other applications.
Bimetallic Products supplies annealed or hard drawn wire and strand. Low-carbon grade annealed versions have tensile strength ranging from 35,000 to 65,000 pounds per square inch. High-carbon drawn versions support up to 225,000 pounds per square inch. Copper content and diameter determine wire strength. Drawn wires typically range from .325 to .020 inches in diameter; although some electronic applications require smaller diameters, which fabricators routinely produce from Dofasco Tubular Products-supplied material.
Bimetallic Products® strand consists of individual wires of the same size concentrically stranded in one or more layers. Consecutive layers are reversed and the direction of lay of the outer layer is left-handed unless otherwise specified.
